Citizens Fall Nine Points Behind Premier League Leaders

Manchester City's Title Hopes Suffer Blow After Draw with Liverpool

Citizens Fall Nine Points Behind Premier League Leaders

Dzeko and Aguero Goals Not Enough to Secure Victory

Manchester City's hopes of retaining their Premier League title suffered a major setback on Sunday as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium.

The Citizens, who are now nine points behind leaders Arsenal, took the lead through Edin Dzeko's 23rd-minute strike. However, Liverpool hit back just three minutes later when Philippe Coutinho leveled the scores.

Sergio Aguero restored City's lead just before the hour mark, but Liverpool refused to lie down and Sadio Mane struck a fine equalizer on 80 minutes.

The result leaves Manchester City in fifth place, nine points behind Arsenal, who have a game in hand. Liverpool, meanwhile, move up to third place, two points ahead of City.

Manchester City, who have now won just one of their last five Premier League games, will be hoping to get back to winning ways when they travel to Burnley next weekend.
